A fellow legislator asked why I didn’t speak up more often.  The Press-Herald had a “Thought for Today” recently that explains it nicely, I hope.

“Wisdom is divided into two parts:   A) having a great deal to say, and   B) not saying it.”

Words to legislate by…

From George H.W. Bush:

“Politics can be civil and not personal.  It doesn’t have to be shouting and questioning the other guy’s motives.  Try to see the other person’s view.  That means you have to listen and not talk all the time.”

Thank you, Mr. President!

Trust, it’s a good thing.

Good news:  People do trust their elected representatives.   I find that encouraging.

The Supremes still got it.

As was reported here earlier, the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine came to Thomaston and heard oral arguments on three pending cases.  I was pleased that the students and members of the public who attended enjoyed a chance to see the high court at work.  Story here.

Non Sibi, Sed Omnibus

“Not for self, but for all.”

This seems like a wonderful motto for Legislative service.  Please alert me if I falter.
